Rehearsal Rooms for the New Teatro dell'Opera in Florence
18.06.2014
The project consists in 12 halls for rehearsals of the orchestra and of the single groups of instruments (percussions, strings and wind instruments) made of multilayered wooden elements with different densities, shapes and sizes in order to become "amplifiers" of the sound. Specific geomtries soften it and propagate it equally. Some of them are made to "reflect" the sound in order to give its energy back to whom is playing. Some other parts, eventually, absorb the sound: these panels are made with fabrics and polyester fibers of different densities and thickness in order to block the sound in specific areas where it's not supposed to be bounced back.

There are also soundproof curtains hidden behind wooden panels, which allow to shape the acoustic setup of the halls, customizing it based on need.
